It was a total team and management effort that helped Jamaica Premier League Champion Cavalier achieved a place in the 2024 Concacaf Caribbean cup final, according to Sporting Director Rudolph Spied.
Cavalier recorded a massive 7-nil triumph over the Dominican Republic team Moca FC on Wednesday night at the National Stadium in the return leg - Concacaf Caribbean cup semi-final, to book their place in the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup.
Led by a hat trick from Shaquille Stein for a 7-nil aggregate score, the lopsided win was also aided by Kaile Auvray with a brace and Christopher Ainsworth and Dwayne Atkinson who both scored from the penalty spot.
Moca played the entire 2nd half with 9 players after goalkeeper Miguel Báez and Jesus Correa were both red carded on the stroke of half time.
Both teams had played to a goalless draw in the first leg semi-final last week in the Dominican Republic.
"This was very important to us after going through a transformation, we lost a number of players and it is a rebuilding process, but Cavalier have a cadre of young players who really wanted to make their name be known. "So I suppose the young players are just stepping up and the Cavalier management and staff gel together and that was what gave us this result, "So I want to say thanks to the management staff and all the people who contributed, sponsors and everybody, it was a team effort" said Speid after the win.
Cavalier advanced to the final for the 2nd year in a row and will face the winner of the return leg semi-final between Real hope of Haiti and Cibao Fc of the Dominican Republic.
Cibao enters the game with a 3-2 advantage.
