Former GC Foster College athlete Toni Ann Lindsay, broke the 12 year record of her NCAA Division II Team Academy of Art over 60 meters, at the Silver and Blue Invitational at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center on the weekend in Nevada, United States.

Lindsay a native of Portmore, St Catherine, first ran her fastest 60 meters dash to date in the preliminaries with a time of 7.44 seconds, lowering her previous lifetime best of 7.49 seconds.

The 23 year old Lindsay, then scorched the track with a 7.34 performance, finishing second overall, rocketing up to first among NCAA DII Indoor Nationals provisional qualifiers, and significantly bettering the 7.40 program record originally set by multi-time Hall of Famer Vashti Thomas in 2013.

Lindsay's 7.34 effort also ties her for 19th in NCAA DII history.

The 2022 Jamaican Inter Collegiate Female Champion Athlete said afterwards: "My focus going into the race was just to react to the commands of the starter," Lindsay said. "I had a good execution from the prelims, so I knew once I react, I'll be in the race. I also let my momentum take me through the last half of the race, as that's a correction Coach Kevin [LaSure] gave me to work with going into the finals. All praises to God and thanks to everyone who believed in me. I am elated about my achievement today."
