Former West Indies Captain Darren Sammy, will now be coaching the regional side across all formats, while ICC 2007 Cricket World Cup Managing Director Chris Dehring, will become the new CEO of Cricket West Indies (CWI).

Sammy, who guided West Indies to two T20 World cup titles in 2012 and 2016 as Captain, will officially take charge of the Test side from April 1, 2025, while continuing to lead the coaching duties for the white-ball teams.

The St Lucian replaces Jamaica's Andre Coley as the head coach of the red-ball side.

Coley’s last series in charge of the team will be the two-match tour of Pakistan from January 16-28, 2025.

Under Coley’s leadership, the regional side have won one series, a 1-0 win over Zimbabwe last February and have suffered losses against India, England and South Africa, twice.

He was at the helm when the West Indies and Australia played to a 1-1 result in their test series in January.

Meantime, Jamaican business magnate Chris Dehring, who guided the West Indies hosting of the 2007 Cricket World Cup, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Cricket West Indies, replacing Johnny Grave whose tenure ended earlier this year.

Dehring was selected from a competitive pool of over fifty applicants representing Europe, Australia, Afghanistan, India, and the Caribbean.

Dehring’s earlier tenure with Cricket West Indies, cemented his legacy as a game-changer for West Indies cricket.

As Managing Director and CEO of ICC Cricket World Cup 2007, he delivered one of the most complex and successful multi-nation sporting events in the Caribbean’s history.

The announcement of both appointments was made by CWI Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe during their quarterly press conference in St. Vincent.
