It's been more than a decade since the parish of St Mary has produced a team to play in the Jamaica Premier League.
The last team that represented the parish was Highgate United who were relegated in the 2013/14 season.
All that is about to change if the stakeholders of the Livity United Sports Club based in Baileys Vale, Port Maria have their way.
So far some of the biggest talents in St Mary are currently under one umbrella as Livity United seek to make a grand push towards Premier league qualification within three years.
The club which is currently under the directorship of community advocate Denny Chin who sponsors and organises the very popular Denny Chin night leagues in St Mary, decided to go all out on this project.
The formation and running of the Livity United sports club, has also seek to unite the communities in and around the Port Maria town, and the parish of St Mary generally though football.
President of the Livity United sports club Bruce Lee Ashley tells says "We are a group of individuals that have the ambition to reach the premier league in 2026, "We have a crop of talented players and we know that together we can attain our target. "So we got the creme dela creme of St Mary and we unite together and we unite together to see that Livity will advance to the Premier league in 2026. "We have players from Pagey, Galina, Islington, Tryall, Stewart Town Oracabessa and Annotto Bay, Its St Mary United really"
Former Jamaican athlete and World Championship relay gold medalist Rasheed Dwyer, is the man entrusted with the task to get the players up to an optimum level physically. "I came on board because of Mr. Chin, who said he needed some assistance with the physical and I have expertise in that field as I know how to get players better physically, mentally, explosive and to get extremely fit". "I think it is a great thing for the community and brings light on the community and I think that its unity and a program that I cam on board and see that it is very organised and I love that about it".
Marvin Andrew is currently the technical director of the Livity United sports club spoke about the talent in the parish. "There is a lot of talent that exists here what really happen is that players always go outside the parish and we are now creating that opportunity within the parish there are several youths now that are coming our of the Premier league as we have just transferred a number of players back in the program because they really want to do something for St Mary"
Captain of the Livity united sports club is Kimani Slivera has top flight football experience representing Garvey Maceo in the Dacosta Cup and Cavalier fc in the JPL. "The set of players that are here are very united. "We started out from corner league and just going around playing and seeing how we performed as a group it gave us big inspiration and Mr Chin saw the opportunity and is giving it a shot right now"
Kemmar Thomas another a member of the team is hoping to bring Livity United forward. "We are a very hard working team doing our very best to ensure that the team makes it to the Premier league"
Duwan Hamilton is a born and bred resident from Port Maria who represented Dinthill in the DaCosta cup and represented Harbour View. He says this is a dream project for him. "This is my dream, I have been dreaming about getting a good team to try and move forward and to bring St Mary somewhere in football because there is a lot of hidden talent here and it is a well built and groomed program"
Courtney Nelson is currently a Jamaican in the diaspora and a born and bred resident out of Port Maria, he is currently organising sponsorship for the team he speaks on his main interest in the project. " We have a group of persons in America right now that is getting some gear for them right now, every likkle mek a muckle as we granny use to say, so if we can put it together then we can make things add up, its going to be a family support".
