Liverpool English Women's Super League team captain Taylor Hinds has been named in Jamaica's Reggae Girlz squad who will face France in a friendly international next Friday at the Stade Auguste Bonal in Eastern France.
Hinds, who has Jamaican roots and has visited the island multiple times, including last summer.
The 25-year-old English-born wingback, who began her career at Arsenal before spending two years with Everton and eventually moving to Liverpool, played a key role in helping Liverpool secure promotion to the English Super League.
Hinds was an England youth international and was a member of the U20 team that won bronze at the World Cup in 2018. She also featured in the run to the quarter-finals of the U17 World Cup in 2016.
Joining hinds as newcomers in the Hubert Busby trained squad are Lulu Jarvis of Plymouth Argyle and Reanna Blades of Burnley
Meanwhile reigning English Super League player of the year Khadija Bunny Shaw is a notable absentee.
Shaw who picked up an injury close to the finish of last season is continuing her goal scoring exploits from where she left off and is already her team's leading goal scorer so far this term.
Coach Busby explains that Shaw's absence is a passport related issue.
The full squad is goalkeepers Rebecca Spencer and Sydney Schnider: Defenders Chantelle Swaby, Allison Swaby, Taylor Hinds, Deneisha Blackwood, Vyan Simpson and Maliah Atkins.
Midfielders: Lulu Jarvis, Atlanta Primus, Jade Bailey, Drew Spence, Sade Adamolekun and Reanna lades and the forwards Natasha Thomas, Paige Bailey-Gayle, Kayla Mckenna, Jody Brown, Shania Hayles, Tiffany Cameron, Davia Richards, and Mikayla Dayes.
The local-based members of the Reggae Girlz contingent, including head coach Hubert Busby, will leave the island on Sunday for France.
In the meantime, coach Busby also revealed that former Reggae Boy Deon Burton has joined the Reggae Girls coaching staff.
The Jamaicans will be using the games to prepare for the Concacaf Women's Qualifiers which kicks off in 2025 and from which four teams will advance to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
