Ahead of what is expected to be a gruelling track and field season, a ground breaking technology that will assist in the rehabilitation of athletes has been unveiled in Jamaica.

The artificial intelligence data enhanced technology that will be used for the first time in the Caribbean, will be able to give real time data that can identify issues, so that coaches can fix and get their athletes to be at their optimum level.
Details of the technology was announced during the partnership signing between Jamaica College sports and Surgix Limited, however this technology will not be confined to the school alone in the long run.
"Surgix Jamaica Ltd ,is the leading company for prosthetics solutions, joint replacement surgery, accident and trauma implants, platelet-rich plasma therapy, stem cell therapy, bracing and orthotics solutions.
Chief Executive Officer of Surgix Jamaica Limited Winfield Boban explains how the technology works.
Meanwhile JC's Track and Field program Technical Leader Duane Johnson was delighted with this partnership. "It is huge, it is something I am excited about and I am really happy that Surgix is using us as their official partner to roll out the technology. Johnson added that "One of the biggest hamper of an athlete becoming the best that he can become is injury, With this technology, we can actually intercept that injury before it occur by fixing the problem that can lead up to injury".

Jamaica College's Principal Wayne Robinson "We are doing a formal arrangement now and by that alone they are co-sponsors of our program. "They have provided to us in the past free surgeries, and this is a major step for us and athletics because I am sure this will not be confined to Jamaica College alone but will spread throughout the country and this has been a kind of phoenix for us".
